MINBURN MAIN EVENT 82K
...Main Event has definitely been an impact bull at Merit. We selected him for his outstanding performance and balance, the power of his sire, and the maternal strength of his mother, MERIT Lady Fanny 4070 (who was purchased by Minburn as a bred heifer in the Fall Finale Sale. WOW! What a cow! Her production record on 7 natural calves boasts a weaning index of 115, a yearling gain of 101, and a lifetime of 107. 4070 has earned the title of Elite Cow. Main Event 82K had an actual weaning weight of 975 lbs. with a 205 index of 134. He ranks in the top 10% in the breed for weaning weight, the top 25% for yearling weight, and he is above breed average for milk. He has added fleshing ability, depth of body, spring of rib, hair and uniformity to his progeny. The 82K daughters are truly the most outstanding females MERIT has raised. His progeny will have a positive impact at MERIT for years to come

MERIT ADVANTAGE 27K
MERIT Advantage 27K is a Canadian Sire Summary Standout! He is a growthy, correct, easy calving son of TC Advantage, who is regarded for his calving ease and carcass traits. 27K's dam is an Elite Cow, with a lifetime index on progeny of 107, while maintaining a 367 day calving interval. 27K has large testicles, excellent feet and a wonderful disposition. He had a AAA marbling score and a lean meat yield of 62.84%. His sons are in high demand at our bull sale and his daughters make solid, functional cows, with nice tidy udders and plenty of milk.

MERIT SUMMIT 3139
Summit is an own son of Apex Stockman 061, that was a great success for Wiwa Creek Angus. We are using Summit as an AI heifer bull. He was the high selling bull in our 2004 sale, purchased by the Doud Ranch. Calving ease, great hair and feet … topped off with an excellent maternal heritage. His mother and grand dam are both “ELITE” females. (Jointly owned by MERIT and Doud Ranch).

MERIT MATADOR 4190
Matador is in the top 20% for weaning and yearling, and above breed average for milk and total maternal. The performance of Main Event and MERIT Diesel backed up by consistent and proven maternal genetics. The Socialit Cow family’s capability surfaces again --- both his dam and grand dam are Elite females. “19B”, the foundation Socialite cow is a donor at MERIT. She has 11 natural calves with weaning index of 106 and stayed in our herd until she was 14 years old ….she still had perfect feet and udder.


MERIT LUKE 3120

In searching for a calving ease bull to follow MERIT Advantage 27K, we were fortunate to have recognized another home grown gem, Luke 3120. He is one of the few sons of the elite curve bender Lukens 9440 Scotch Cap L 463 in Canada. His dam, 23J is a moderate framed and good footed with a well balanced udder and nice small teats. Two maternal sisters are in our herd.
Luke is an extremely well balanced, eye appealing bull that combines strong maternal traits with muscle and masculinity. He is below breed average for birth weight, above average for all growth traits, and above breed average for milk. Luke has been bred to heifers with excellent success, while his progeny exhibit muscle, eye appeal and true Angus character. His sons are popular with commercial buyers.


MERIT DIESEL 8041
...We retained an interest in Diesel because he did so many things right. Diesel has excellent feet, great hair, thickness and style…along with added performance. He has since proven to pass these traits on to his progeny with consistency. Diesel ranks in the top 10% of all Angus bulls for weaning weight and yearling weight. 2004 marks the fourth calf crop for Diesel - he works hassle free and that is why we continue to use him. His claves are born with ease and vigour. Diesel daughters are easy fleshing, and good milkers with excellent udders. Some of the best calves are out of Diesel daughters. His sons are admired by our commercial customers for their all around performance, hair and eye appeal.


DWAJO DUTCH 65P
Most exciting group of Angus calves at MERIT --- Dutch is definitely a herd bull! He was the high seller at the 2005 On Target Bull Sale for Ole Farms. We thought the bull had a lot to offer so we purchased a 1/3 semen interest. His mother, Dwajo Queen Gem 43J is an elite cow. Dutch boasts a 120 weaning index. His progeny has super hair, great disposition, eye appeal, wide pin set and muscle in their hip structure. To top it off, his calves are born easily with lots of vigour. His sons exhibit masculinity and large testicles. His daughters are feminine and loose made. As a calf, Dwajo Dutch 65P was Reserve Champion Bull at the National Angus Show in 2004. Dutch combines a unique pedigree and is above breed average for all growth traits and milk. Jointly owned with Dwajo Angus & Ole Farms.
